Being a stay at home mom is hard. It’s exhausting. It feels thankless on most days. I think to myself daily, “Will they EVER appreciate what I do for them?!”
But do you know what is harder and even more thankless and unacknowledged? Your job.
The world does not give you enough credit and appreciation. You do not get to hear it enough – how amazing you are. How, without you, our world – the life that we have created together, wouldn’t be possible.
Every day, you put your wants and needs aside in order to take care of and provide for us. You have put your desires on hold, just to ensure OUR comfort.
You leave the house every morning before any of us are awake to go to a job that is certainly not your favorite place to be, to spend most of the day doing something that you know in your heart is not what you are here on Earth to do. But you do it anyways. You do it for us. And never once do you complain about how you wish it were any different.
I can see it in your eyes, I can feel it in your spirit. You are tired. You sacrifice a piece of yourself every single day for us. You have hopes and dreams of your own – things you’d like to accomplish in life, things that would leave you feeling more fulfilled. But you don’t go after them. Not yet…because you know what that would mean for our family. You have chosen to put all of your wants on hold for us. Please do not think this goes unnoticed.
When I feel beaten down by life, I turn to you. When it feels like I can’t possible handle one more thing, I turn to you. Your strength is my strength. Just your essence encourages me to find my strength every day. I admire all that you are. I look at you and I see the most selfless man. An honorable man. A man that does not ask for a single thing in return. A man that’s sole mission in life is to love and protect. You do this all for us.
You do not ask to be acknowledged. You do not boast. You never make me feel less than. You find peace in every day. You are content. You do not ask anything of me. You appreciate everything I do, and when you see me struggling you are quick to pick me back up.
Thank you. THANK YOU! Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be home with our children. Thank you for allowing me time to rest and recover. Thank you for coming home every day with a smile on your face. Thank you for telling me every day how beautiful I am. Thank you for staying up at night with me after the kids go to bed even though I know you are exhausted. Thank you for always being worried about us. Thank you for always wanting me to be happy. Thank you for making sure all of our needs are met. Thank you for always asking me what you can do to help. Thank you for kissing me goodbye every morning, and sending me a good morning message. Thank you for listening to me when I go on about how “stressful” my day was. Thank you for telling me that I am doing a good job. Thank you for loving me the way you do. Thank you for…saving me.
I don’t think you are fully aware of what you have done, and continue to do for our family. The blessings you provide are far beyond material means.
You have given me the opportunity to honor my truth. You have provided me the experience to embrace my femininity and vulnerability in ways I’ve never been able to before. You have allowed the time for me to fulfill my heart’s desire. You have given our children the feeling of safety and security. You have allowed a stable foundation to be built.
Your love for this family is so great, you are willing to leave us every day – to do something that you are not passionate about, in order for our children and me to live a better life than what the alternative would provide.
You have given my soul the chance to awaken. You have provided me with an incredible healing opportunity physically, emotionally and spiritually.
You make it abundantly clear each and every day that WE are your number one priority.
You don’t have to do any of this, yet every single day you CHOOSE to. You choose to be the husband that you are. You choose to be the father that you are. You choose to be the human being that you are. Every. Day.
I don’t know if you’ll truly ever be able to comprehend how eternally grateful I am for you. There are no words to express how blessed I feel that I get to raise a family with you….that I get to live this lifetime with you.
Every night while we lay in bed, I look over at you sleeping, and I thank God for you. All of you. Everything you have done for us. For me. Everything that you are. Everything you stand for.
If I could ask just one thing of you – Honor yourself. Honor your accomplishments and who you are. You are a warrior of love and light. You give 100% of your heart in everything that you do.
I have been so blessed to watch your transformation take place. You have come so far from the 24 year old bachelor with nothing more than orange juice and beer in his fridge. 🙂
You have become a true man, and husband, a father, an inspiration to all men…a hero.
You are the definition of the Rugged Warrior.
